Remix

Hey Guys!

With our 21st Century technology enrichment we both decided to work with ACID XPress. There are many things that you can do with this program but we decided on two simple parts. Composition and remix. Since Matt took composition I'm going to run you through how to remix music!

First Thing to Do:

Is to chose which song you would like to remix. After surfing through my music collection i decided on the song

Example of the Song Before Remixing:

I chose this because its somewhat of a simple song. Composed of the regular band instruments (guitar, drums, bass) and nothing complicated (ie. synthesizers).

Then I chose my loops.

www.looperman.com/ is an excellent source of Loops. Plus all the loops are royalty free so you can use them and don't have to pay anything!

After pasting together loops here and there i was able to finally get my work done.

Heres a little of what my mixing window looked like:

In the end my finished product came to end up as this:

A Little on why:

Why did you select this Program?  Did it relate to your course work or personal interests?  Be specific.

I selected ACID because I have a very large intrest in music. I've listened to remixed songs before and I always wanted to learn how to create something different from a song that i already knew. ACID is a good, easy-to-use program that really taught me the basis about how to remix music and also what it takes to remix it.

What did you like best about this Enrichment?  Be specific.

I liked that we could go our own paths, chose our own programs and do it all on our own time. The freedom of the enrichment was helpful especially during the week when most of us are very busy.

What did you like least?  Be specific.

I enjoyed almost all of the enrichment, something I didn't enjoy was the frustration of having to remix and remix music until I produced something I liked. It was more of a personal dislike with my own work than anything and did not have to do anything with the enrichment.

Would you recommend that this Enrichment be offered again?  Why or why not?

Yes, it was very helpful for learning a new program and it was incredibly flexible for people who were busy during the week since we were allowed to work on it on our own time.
